If the heating tube is already finished, measure its resistance value, then calculate the power with its rated voltage by the formula:Power = Voltage² ÷ ResistanceTaking 220V power supply as an example, the power formula can be simplified to: P = 48400 ÷ R
For power design of new electric heating tubes (such as water tank heating or oven heating), specific working conditions shall be taken into account.For water tank heating: parameters including water weight (kg), temperature difference, heating-up time, with or without thermal insulation layer, sealed heating or not shall be confirmed to estimate the required power.For oven heating: factors such as oven volume (cubic meter), temperature difference, heating-up time, with or without insulation layer and sealed heating shall be considered for power estimation.
In the selection and power calculation of electric heating tubes, two power values need to be considered:
Holding power: power required to maintain the medium at constant temperature;
Heating power: power needed to raise the temperature from initial value to set value within specified time.
The total power shall take the maximum value of the above two, plus a safety factor (e.g. 1.2).
