Product Introduction

The sheathed thermocouple features excellent flexibility, high temperature resistance, fast thermal response and high durability. Same as industrial assembled thermocouples, it serves as a temperature measuring sensor, normally supporting matched use with display instruments, recording instruments and electronic regulators. It can also act as the temperature-sensing element for assembled thermocouples. It can directly measure the temperature of liquid, steam, gas media and solid surfaces within the range of 0℃～800℃ in various production processes, complying with the standard GB/T18404-2001.

Sheathed Thermocouple

Working Principle

A sheathed thermocouple works by welding two conductors of different compositions at both ends to form a closed loop. The direct temperature measuring end is defined as the measuring junction, and the terminal end as the reference junction.

When a temperature difference exists between the measuring junction and the reference junction, a thermal current will be generated in the loop. When connected to a display instrument, the instrument will indicate the corresponding temperature value of the thermoelectromotive force produced by the thermocouple.

The thermoelectromotive force of the sheathed thermocouple increases with the temperature rise of the measuring junction. Its magnitude is only related to the conductor material of the sheathed thermocouple and the temperature difference between the two ends, and has no relation to the length and diameter of the thermal electrode.

The sheathed thermocouple is manufactured by multiple drawing processes with conductors, magnesium oxide insulation and 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel protective tube. Its basic structure mainly consists of a junction box, terminal block and sheathed thermocouple body, equipped with various mounting and fixing devices.

Sheathed thermocouples are divided into two types: insulated type and grounded type.
