How to Prevent Fires When Using Electric Heating Tubes

Electric heating tubes are core components of numerous electrical equipment. LILIN reminds all users to stay alert to fire hazards caused by dry burning of equipment fitted with electric heating tubes. Below are common causes of fires and corresponding preventive measures.

Common Causes of Fires Involving Electric Heating Tubes

1.    Placing energized electric heaters near combustible or flammable materials. Long-term high-temperature baking will ignite surrounding items and trigger fires.

2.    Operating electric heaters without proper plugs. Directly inserting wire ends into sockets easily leads to short circuits and fires.

3.    Leaving heaters plugged in while unattended. Extended operation causes overheating, which ignites nearby combustibles.

4.    Reusing heating wires after repeated repairs may result in circuit overload and fires.

It should be noted that the heating wires of electric heating furnaces are made of nickel-chromium alloy, with a working temperature exceeding 800. These heaters generally have high power, so negligence in operation may easily lead to fire accidents.

Safety Guidelines to Prevent Heater Fires

1.    Always use standard plugs for power connection. Never insert bare wire ends directly into sockets.

2.    Replace aged or damaged power cords in a timely manner.

3.    Do not use electric heaters that are not equipped with fuses.

4.    Keep heaters under supervision during operation. Unplug them when leaving the area, and also remember to pull out the plug in case of a power cut.

5.    Discard heating wires that have been repaired many times and replace them with new ones.

6.    Never use electric heaters to dry flammable and explosive substances.

7.    Electric ovens must be fitted with temperature control devices to avoid excessive temperature and overlong baking time.

Keep flammable and explosive materials away from electric heating equipment to ensure a safe working environment. Perform regular maintenance and inspection on heating tubes to guarantee their normal service.
