Proper Operation & Usage Guidelines for Electric Heating Tubes

Nearly all first-time buyers of heating tubes are concerned about service life. Improper operation will not only hinder optimal performance but also shorten the product lifespan. Below is a detailed guide on correct usage practices.

First of all, the applied supply voltage shall not exceed 110% of the rated voltage marked on each heating tube. When operated below rated voltage, the heat output of stainless steel heating tubes will drop accordingly. Should power cut off unexpectedly while the tube is energized and hot, wait for full cooling before re-powering. Each power-up creates an electric surge; hot internal resistance wires are prone to burnout under sudden current impact. Two lock nuts shall be used to fasten terminals oppositely during wiring; avoid excessive tightening force which may loosen terminal studs and damage the heating tube.

Terminal sections of stainless steel heating tubes must stay clean and dry. Dirt or moisture degrades insulation and may lead to short-circuit breakdown. When deployed in environments with corrosive chemicals, flammable or explosive liquids/gases, fully seal terminal joints with insulated encapsulation fittings for accident prevention. Jingding Electric Heating Appliances (Xinghua) pioneered glue injection sealed terminal construction a decade ago to reliably protect lead assemblies, a design now widely adopted for all types of water immersion heating tubes.

After repeated service, remove thick limescale and grease buildup regularly from tube outer surface. Heavy fouling impairs heat transfer, driving surface load beyond rated limit and causing premature failure. We received customer complaints about breakdown on exposed tube segments; site inspection revealed heating sections wrapped in thick deposits blocking heat dissipation. Trapped heat accumulates at upper portions and ruptures the metal sheath.

Store unused stainless steel heating tubes in dry warehouses. For units dampened by long-term storage, test insulation resistance with a 500V megohmmeter prior to startup. If reading falls below 1MΩ, bake the tubes in a drying oven at 200°C for moisture removal. Always read specification manuals thoroughly before installing specialty custom stainless steel heating tubes to prevent accidental damage.
