Working Principle

Resistance temperature detectors measure temperature based on the characteristic that the resistance of materials changes with temperature. The temperature-sensing part is made by tightly winding fine metal wires in double coils around a framework of insulating material. When a temperature gradient exists in the measured medium, the measured value represents the average temperature of the medium layer where the sensing element is located.
