Operation and Maintenance of Single-End Cartridge Heaters

1.After prolonged use, if thick scale or oil deposits accumulate on the surface of the single-end heater, they must be cleaned regularly. Otherwise, the heat transfer performance will deteriorate, causing the surface heat load to exceed the rated limit and damage the heater.


2.The heating section of the single-end cartridge heater must be fully immersed in the heating medium to avoid overheating due to poor heat dissipation, which may damage the tube. In addition, the terminal leads should be kept outside the insulation layer or the heater body to prevent overheating damage.


3.The wiring terminals must be kept clean and dry. Otherwise, insulation performance will decline, leading to short circuits and breakdown. In environments involving chemically corrosive, flammable or explosive liquids or gases, the wiring section must be fully protected with insulated and sealed fittings to prevent accidents.


4.When heating viscous materials such as sodium nitrate, stearic acid, paraffin wax, etc., the supply voltage should be reduced at the initial stage to lower the heating power. After the substance is completely melted into liquid, the voltage can be raised to the rated value for normal heating.


5.The input voltage shall not exceed 110% of the rated voltage marked on the heater. If operated below the rated voltage, the heat output of the single-end tube will decrease accordingly.


6.For special-purpose single-end heaters, please read the instructions carefully before installation and operation to avoid damage.


7.When wiring the single-end heater, fasten the two nuts evenly against each other. Do not apply excessive force, as this may loosen the terminal bolts and damage the heater.


8.Special attention shall be paid to the heating medium when selecting a single-end heater. The medium must be non-corrosive to the heater sheath material.


9.Single-end cartridge heaters should be stored in a dry warehouse. If the surface becomes damp due to long-term storage, measure the insulation resistance with a megohmmeter before use. If the value is less than 1 MΩ/500 V, the heater should be dried in an oven at 200°C.
